Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the health profession with expertise in movement and exercise -throughout your lifespan and across the health spectrum.

Physiotherapy involves specific interventions where movement and function are threatened by illness, ageing, injury, pain, disability, disease, disorder or environmental factors.

Such interventions are designed to develop, restore and maintain optimal health.

How can my Physiotherapist help me?

Your Physiotherapist will use a variety of techniques to help regain your range of movement, reduce your pain and increase your strength.

These will include:

- joint mobilisations

-scar tissue release

-trigger point release

-soft tissue release and mobilisation

-exercise prescription

-posture and movement reeducation

-dry needling

-ultrasound

-electrotherapy

-biofeedback and muscle stimulation

Your Physiotherapist will also guide and assist you in your rehabilitation process. To do this they will use exercise prescription, biofeedback, gait reeducation and postural/ergonomic reeducation.

Your Physiotherapist will communicate with your GP or specialist to ensure that there is good multidisciplinary compliance with all treatments used.

The Back Skills Training Programme

We have a BeST (Back Skills Training Programme) which is a programme that runs over 6 weeks.

It is a fantastic way to learn about your back pain and get some control back!

The programme includes the Psychology of back pain, some of the mechanisms of back pain, pacing, goal setting and how to get back to your normal activities of daily living and exercise.

Ideally sessions are in a group, and face to face, but we will be running online sessions in 2023 to accommodate busy lives.
